Service 10 / Stonework

New build / Repair / Retaining walls

SCOPE / WHAT’S INCLUDED

Built to belong.
Made to last.

Dry stone walling works because every stone has a structural role. The face is only part of the job: foundations, through-stones, hearting, batter and coping all determine whether a wall settles well and stands for decades.

We build and repair walls across the High Peak and Cheshire, matching the stone, coursing and character of the surrounding landscape wherever possible.

WORK PACKAGE

DSW–04

STONE SOURCING AND ACCESS REQUIREMENTS CONFIRMED AFTER SITE SURVEY.

MATERIAL STUDY / GRITSTONE  ·  DRY BUILD / NO MORTAR

“The right stone, laid with the right face, weight and contact.”

Project record / recent walling

Work in detail.

Selected images from recent projects, showing preparation, stone selection, construction and the finished wall.

BUILD SEQUENCE / 01–03

Measured from
the ground up.

Each stage is checked before the next begins. Good walling is methodical, not cosmetic.

01

SET OUT + BASE

Line, levels, ground conditions and drainage are established. The footing is excavated and prepared to suit the wall.

02

BUILD + HEART

Face stones are selected and coursed with correct contact. The core is tightly hearted and through-stones tie both faces.

03

COPE + CHECK

The wall is finished with secure coping stones, then checked for line, batter, stability and clean site edges.
